In any creative process, if two heads are better than one, then three are even better. The partners of Studio Lievore Altherr Molina must have realised this when they founded the studio 20 years ago, and time has proved them right. Today we want to introduce the work of these three Barcelona-based designers.
Ever since its creation in 1991, Studio Lievore Altherr Molina has won numerous awards and its designs have been featured in the most prestigious international publications and exhibitions. The partners acknowledge that their collective work is much more than the sum of their individual work: their collaboration is strengthened by the different perspectives of the partners and the interaction between them, forming a creative process they are proud of.
This is the professional background of the three partners of one of the more active design studios in Spain.
Alberto Lievore is an Argentinian architect and designer, who has been established in Barcelona since 1977. In the 70s, he became a member of Grupo Berenguer, a project focused on the education and practice of design, together with Jorge Pensi, Norberto Chaves and Oriol Pibenart. In 1984 he created his own studio, specialising in product design, art direction and consulting. In 1991, the studio welcomed Jeannette Altherr and Manel Molina as partners and changed its name to Estudio Lievore Altherr Molina.
Alberto Lievore has received many national and international awards, but the one he values the most is the National Award for Design he received in 1999. However, he believes that the best reward is being able to communicate his values to the final user through his work.
Jeanette Altherr started in the field of design in Germany during the 80s, when she studied industrial design in the city of Darmstadt. She moved to Barcelona to study at the prestigious Escola Massana and, in 1989, worked as a stylist for several publications and started working with Alberto Lievore. In 1991 she became a partner at Studio Lievore Altherr Molina, responsible for design, consultancy and art direction. This year she is a member of the jury for the Delta Awards for Industrial Design, which will be awarded on 9th June.
Barcelona-born Manel Molina studied industrial design at Art and Design School EINA, and early in his career, he began working with designers like Jorge Pensi, Alberto Lievore and Miguel Mila, before becoming a partner at Studio Lievore Altherr Molina. During his professional career he has received many renowned awards such as the Delta de Plata and the Liderpack. His contribution to the work of Lievore Altherr Molina specialises in the most intuitive part of the creative process: concept visualisation and project development.
