For some time now, technology has been changing how we go about our daily lives, how we communicate, how we enter into social and professional relationships, and even how we understand rest and leisure. Design has kept up with these changes, and technology not only helps define the planning stages (decor programmes, virtual displays, etc.), but also forms part of the decorating style of our home.
We’re talking about simplifying our lives, using a Smartphone or a remote system to control our kitchen, living room and bedroom, enjoying maximum security and convenience, and integrating technology into any decorating style.
The aim is to make our homes intelligent by equipping them with interconnecting electronic devices. In this post we’re going to highlight three quite curious examples of technology used in the home.
Personal alarm clock for couples
This is an alarm clock that recreates dawn by sending light waves that become gradually stronger focused only on the person who has programmed it to wake them up. The device, called Wake, knows who to wake up and focuses on them without disturbing their partner. This will undoubtedly improve the quality of our own and our partner’s sleep, and waking up will become somewhat more pleasurable.
We’re watching you
Netatmo Welcome is a facial recognition system that records who enters your home and who leaves at all times and sends you a notification. It’s an especially interesting way of keeping tabs on our children as it’s a perfect control tool. It also provides a log of comings and goings for reference purposes. Another of its curious practical functions is that it knows who is at home at all times.
A “monster detector” mattress!
SleepIQ Kids is a very special mattress. It has sensors that capture children’s breathing, movements and heartbeats and notifies parents if they get out of bed in the middle of the night. Another of its more curious functions is its “monster detector”, a light system installed under the bed that activates when your child wakes up.
What you think? Are we ready for this advanced home technology? 😉
