Design Matters with Debbie Millman

Debbie Millman is an educator, artist and chair of the ‘Masters in Branding’ program at the School of Visual Arts in New York. She has more than 30 years of experience in the design industry and in 2005 she began hosting Design Matters, the first design podcast to be freely distributed on iTunes. Design Matters is the flagship show of the channel of the Design Observer Group channel. The 45-minute podcasts feature interviews with some of the first names in contemporary design, and explore their creative processes.

DnA Design and Architecture, with Frances Anderton

A thoughtful look at architecture and design in the modern age.

From KCRW radio, British journalist Frances Anderton produces and hosts this weekly show about the design and architecture scene in Los Angeles. An enthusiast of design and architecture, Frances Anderton has built a dedicated team of designer-journalists that share her passion and her eagerness to be the voice of indie and contemporary design. The show has been aired since 2002 and is 30 minutes long.

99% Invisible

The name of this podcast, hosted in English by journalist Roman Mars, says everything about its content: design and architecture are constantly present in our daily lives, yet we are seldom aware of their significance. The thought provoking and dynamic 18-minute shows address the influence of all instances of design and architecture, from the psychoanalysis couch to the late World Trade Center.

La Morsa era yo arquitectura

This informative show in Spanish addresses different topics related to architecture. Hosted by Galician architect and designer Juan Ortiz, it has won the Podcast Association Award twice, for best podcast in the categories of Art and Culture and History and Culture. During the two-hour talk show, guest architects discuss topics of general interest related to architecture.

Fuera de contexto

This is one of the few podcasts on design and innovation in Spanish. Produced in Mexico and Europe by designers José de la O and Miguel Melgarejo, its objectives are to help Latin designers to become known and to generate criticism about design. The show is in its third season, but it is not published regularly. The podcast interviews and stories contribute a unique point of view on the contemporary Latin design scene, and the creative process.

Modulart, Creativity in Design

Modulart is a Spanish radio show produced by the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California in Mexico. The show frequency is somewhat irregular and its objective is to present the work of designers and the influence of their designs. The podcast features interviews and topical sections that may be of interest not only to students but to all those interested in this subject.
